What are we here for?

The aim of Lily the Pink Ministries is to provide online learning materials and to help those in mental distress. One thing that we have discovered is that it is not possible to develop projects to help those in mental distress without money and that it is not possible to obtain funding without starting to work with the target group. That sounds like common sense but there were times when it was not that hard to find people to pay for the work that you were doing to help others.

What can we do instead? The answer is to make a profit from the the online learning materials and use that to develop projects for those in mental distress. The better able those projects are to be self-financing the better able the more and better projects that can be run.

The dream is to set up a total support package for someone who is in mental distress. If they needed a trade so that they could earn money they could learn something that would help others such as washing machine repairs. The aim would be to both help the person wanting to retrain and those who needed their services. They would be able to learn to read and write if necessary as well as do more advanced qualifications. They would be provided with anything they might need to help them improve their life, apart than somewhere to live. The more able could set up projects or businesses that helped the less able whether that was by providing goods or services or providing actvities that built them up while meeting the needs of others.

Sounds an amazing dream doesn't it. I have seen enough people struggling in one way or another to know that there are hundreds of people in that kind of need within a few minutes walk of our base. Many have depended on services provided (or paid for) by the government but they are now struggling to do what they once did at a time when the level of need seems to be increasing not decreasing.

First though we need a way to bring in some money to pay for such projects. How can you help us do this?

  • You could follow one of the links that the side and buy one of our products. (The books and DVDs were left from a workshop that we put on.)
  • Once you have bought one of the digital products from eJunkie you will have the option to sign up as an affiliate. So if you buy an ebook or an online course from eJunkie find that you like it and think that you will be able to sell more copies to others you can sign up as an affiliate. If you are willing to put some work into persauding other people to buy these things as well then we will reward you by paying a proportion of the price. While you do that more people will get to know about what we are trying to do as well so it is a win win situation.
  • We have signed up for a number of affiliate programs. We have put a collection of adverts for these on a separate page. There are a few in the sidebar as well. If you follow these links and buy something as a result we will earn commission from your purchases. In these sitautions you do not pay anymore but by following our links you will help us do more to help those in mental distress.

Once we have made some profit (and repaid our losses) we will probably go back to the first project that we tried to run i.e. run some workshops on various issues related to mental distress. We have investigated the possiblity of running some money management workshops. We have also started to collect ideas about how to help others move on to develop their own projects and businesses. In other words we will finally be able to move onto the next stage of finding ways of helping people who are in mental distress.
